WhatsApp has announced that the program can be now locked with a fingerprint following the accession of the biometric security feature to the iOS version earlier this season.

“Today we are introducing similar authentication, Letting You unlock the app with your fingerprint, on confirmed Android telephones,”

The availability of the feature means you will now need to unlock your phone with the fingerprint scan which makes the program more secure. The catch is that the upgrade is not available in all regions yet but once it does appear, users will have the ability to enable the feature by going to the privacy settings menu.

There are choices to let the app unlocked for various different times which begin at one minute and up to half an hour.

WABetaInfo reported the feature as it appeared on the beta version again in August while it was released for iOS and a Face ID too, Android was missing this feature.
