Healthy lifestyle and health!

We have not been given power over circumstances, but we have been given freedom of choice, freedom of spirit: power over ourselves. You can always do better yourself if you remember that good is immeasurably stronger than evil.

The modern development of our society, including health care, poses the population the task of finding more effective ways and means of maintaining and strengthening health. The main thing in solving this task is to know yourself and change your lifestyle or behavior.

Unfortunately, many people do not follow the simplest norms of a healthy lifestyle. Some become victims of a sedentary lifestyle (physical inactivity), which causes premature aging of the body. Others are excess in food with the almost inevitable development of obesity, vascular sclerosis, and in some – diabetes. Still, others do not know how to relax, to be distracted from industrial and domestic worries, are always restless, nervous, and suffer from insomnia, which ultimately leads to numerous diseases of the internal organs. Some people, succumbing to the addiction to smoking and alcohol, actively shorten their lives.

To maintain, strengthen and restore health is not enough passive waiting for nature (or someone else) to do its job sooner or later. Man himself must perform some kind of action. For each action, a motive is needed – a conscious motivation, conditioning the action to satisfy any human need. Therefore, maintaining health is a very important motivation for a healthy lifestyle.

This is not to say that people do not understand the significance of health, do not value it, but, unfortunately, the value of health is recognized by most people when it is seriously threatened or lost to a certain extent. Only then (and even then not always to the right degree) does the motivation arise – to cure the disease, to get rid of bad habits, to become healthy.

Is there a positive motivation for maintaining health in healthy people? Unfortunately, the motivation for health is very weak and is created only through hygienic education and the formation of certain knowledge, beliefs and conscious behavior. It should be remembered that a person’s lifestyle is not built and does not add up on its own, depending on the circumstances, but is formed throughout life purposefully and constantly. Therefore, it is necessary to form a motivation for a healthy lifestyle from early childhood, using modern methods, means and forms of hygienic education, as the most integral part of general education.

The main objective of hygienic education is to provide children with the necessary (sufficient, reliable and accessible) information to obtain strong knowledge about health and the factors that shape it. Then, using the means of motivation (motivation), they develop stable habits, which allows you to consciously change their behavior and lead a healthy lifestyle.

However, it must be remembered that skills will be strong and durable if decisions are made consciously and are not “imposed” by adults in the process of education, which is an inevitable psychological conflict, that is, coercion to what is needed, contrary to what one wants.

Hygienic education of children, instilling in them the skills of healthy lifestyles should be complex and continuous in nature, encourage them to actively and consciously know themselves and change their behavior.

For the successful formation of such a need, it is necessary that the motives by which children are encouraged to act are meaningful in their eyes, that the attitude to the performance of the actions of the children is emotionally positive, and finally, if necessary, they are able to show certain willpower for achieving results.

From childhood, to teach children independence, to confront the child with the need to make choices, make decisions, to instill in him a sense of responsibility, the ability not to give in to difficulties and say “no!”. This can be done only in the combination of exactingness with respect and trust in children, and also – to be an example for them to follow. It is necessary to “go from the child”, i.e. you need to know the interests that the child lives, the features of his mental, physical and mental development, his motor and emotional preparedness, his desires and abilities.

A special attitude should be too bad habits because a healthy lifestyle and bad habits are not compatible. At the beginning of schooling, children should have developed a persistent negative attitude towards smoking, the use of alcoholic, alcohol-containing, tonic and carbonated drinks.

Parents and children should not only be relatives, but also close friends. The family should be dominated by a democratic style of education, i.e. consent style. Mutual understanding and mutual respect will solve many educational problems, especially in adolescence, and will help to form those personality qualities that children need for later life, for self-determination and self-realization.
