Kartarpur sets positive example, says US

WASHINGTON: The United States has said that the launching of this Kartarpur corridor sets a good example of neighbors working together for mutual advantage.

In a video message released on Saturday afternoon, State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus predicted the launching of the new border-crossing an important”step towards promoting greater spiritual freedom”.

Highlighting the importance of the”remarkable” job, Ms Ortagus said in her short statement:”The State Department welcomes the introduction of a brand new border-crossing involving India and Pakistan, ” the Kartarpur corridor. We view this as a positive example of neighbors working together for mutual advantage.

It allows Indian Sikh pilgrims to go to Gurdwara Kartarpur sahib, an important Sikh house of worship only within the Pakistan border.

This remarkable project will transform a distant three-acre website across a sensitive international boundary.

“Congratulations to India and Pakistan with this initiative. And our very best wishes to the pilgrims making the crossing to the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak’s birth”
