No indication of a let-up in Pakistan’s struggle against polio as four distinct cases of polio appeared in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday.According to details, fresh polio cases surfaced in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and Upper and Lower Kohistan of this state.
A three-month-old woman from Baist Khel area in Lakki Marwat contracted polio. The infant allegedly was not administered polio drops.Sample of a 10-month-old boy at Jani Khel area of Bannu was also delivered to a laboratory which affirmed poliovirus within his physique.
“The kid during a brief span had taken just five doses from the additional doses and just one dose of this regular immunisation,” said the report.Poliovirus was also located from the sample of a woman child in Tehsil Pattan of Kohistan.
Her samples were shipped into the national institute of health in Islamabad on October 27.Similarly, the same virus was discovered at a five-year-old woman kid in Tehsil Dasu of Upper Kohistan.
According to an Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) for Polio, the amount of kids affected by the poliovirus soared to 68 from the current year although the total number of polio cases in the nation reached 91.
“Lakki Marwat and Bannu have become insecure districts for polio cases in 2019 as 15 and 24 polio cases were reported in the districts . Amongst other districts, eight polio cases were reported in North Waziristan, seven at Tor Ghar and 2 in Hangu.
One polio case each was reported in Bajaur, Charsadda, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Shangla, Tank and South Waziristan.Up till today, seven cases had been reported by Balochistan, five from Punjab and 10 from Sindh so far.
